A Little Story from Our Garden
The trees and plants in our garden have been stretched during summer. Shedding all but their essential leaves, they’d closed themselves down.

Resilience 2021: the 10th Seed of Hope & Kindness
What the world around me was in early 2020 will never return. My rising again into this new year must start from within -- from my place of kindness. But how do I rise again in a way that's helpful to me and everyone I connect with, and be relevant to the world that's emerging?

Respect for the Earth = Self Respect Earth Day 2020
Earth Day 2020, on 22nd May, was especially poignant this year. As we humans navigate a dramatically changed world, where so much that we thought was permanent has become very transient, what remains?

Nuytsia floribunda: The Christmas Tree
My first introduction to Nuytsia floribunda was not a formal one.
“This is a Christmas tree, Wendy,” my kindergarten teacher informed me. But it didn’t look at all like the Christmas tree that we had just decorated at home. I wondered if she was mistaken but didn’t dare to argue. After all, she was a teacher. She must know.

Be What Gives You Joy: the 8th Seed of Hope & Kindness
This Seed, 8th in the Seeds of Hope series, has “germinated” after running around my head and conversations for some time. As part of this Seed, I have invited my nature photographer husband, Rob, to share one of his stunning photos with you for this blog.
What gives me joy? That surge of pure delight from my heart?

There's Killing...and there's Killing
Yesterday was one of the magical synchronicities of life that, the day after reading this most thoughtful writing, I was blessed that an owl perched on my hand. A beautiful white-faced barn owl, named Ivy, and a superb predator.

The Giving of Life for the Saving of Life
I’ve been reflecting on the story of Easter today. About what makes some people so willing to give of themselves for the good of any other living beings, human and otherwise.

The Tree as a Socially Responsible Organisation
Sitting in a cafe, I was waiting for someone whom I'd arranged to meet here. The tree stood tall outside, its leaves glistening in the sunlight. I loved the way the rustling leaves on our eucalyptus trees catch the light and send it on its sparkling way. Birds called as they flitted among the branches. Each tree supports so much life!
